Biodiverse treasures in Sub-Saharan Africa

Connect Prospex Case

The biodiversity of a country is an elementary part of its wealth and wellbeing, effecting the economy and all of society. Like many treasures, biodiversity is often hidden from people who remain unaware of its importance. Prospex works with government officials in Ghana, Mozambique and Uganda to engage key national stakeholders to understand their need for biodiversity data and how this can be integrated into parliamentary debates and other relevant decision-making processes. This work is part of the Connect project, developing this data and making it available to decision-makers. Connect is led by the United Nations Environment Programme – World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP WCMC) and financed by the World Bank’s Global Environment Facility (GEF). The Connect team brings together international and expert institutions ranging from the Convention on Biological Diversity to Bird Life International.
